Beromünster, Sempach and the Cathedral of trees

Michael took is to a beautiful baroque church....St. Michael's in Beromunster, where in 1794 the monks planted a Cathedral of trees called Waldkathedrale in the surrounding areas.
We then went to his parents house for drinks, where an old painting was unrolled! Michael and I met 15 years ago at the National Institute of Design, where he had come from Switzerland for a 5 month animation stint. We became good friends, and he got this Bollywoodesque mural made with him as the central character. That's me drinking tender coconut water with the cap, towards the right of him. Well 15 years later, here I am in Switzerland taking a trip down memory lane. Michael and his wife Mira are amazing artists, and you can see their incredible work here.

We stopped at a lovely pond with the spectacular view of the alps, on the way back to Beinwil am See.

Freiburg, Germany

So I went to Freiburg to visit my cousins. Had a beer at the Basel train station in between trains.

Anita and Andreas' house in Neuershausen, Freiburg.

At the ruins of an old castle in Hochburg.

Anita and Andreas up on the hill of the Black forest.

There were storks nesting every where. This nest was perched precariously on top of a barn which was used to dry tobacco.

It was a lovely stay in the country side. Catching up on old stories after many years!

Sommer Sonnenwende

Katrin and Zoltan invited us to their Summer solstice party in Boniswil. I did a watercolour for them of the school in Boniswil, while it was still bright outside. When it started to rain, we moved in and sang songs into the night.

Exploring Zurich

I'm here in Zurich for a 3 week artists residency, and I'm loving it already. I'm staying at a studio in Badenerstrasse where there's a community of artists, and I've begun exploring the city.

Basel

In Basel with Barbara and Kalpana.

The Rhabarber Bar

Outside in the garden

With Michael and Mira, who did up the house for me to stay in. We all took turns bartending.

Kalpana and I sang songs

We even had a disco ball!

So we converted the little cottage in Beinwil am See where I was staying into a bar and gallery for one night! It was so much fun. The space looked amazing, and I put up my paintings and sketchbooks too. Sold 3 paintings!
There was an old record player, and people brought their records to listen too. It was quite a hit! There was a rhubarb theme, with drinks and cocktails made out of them. If you're in the vicinity, we may have one more in the coming weeks.
