The happenings of Delhi

Behind the scenes.

Pranav and Alex's reception invite

To Madeleine

Madeleine

It's as if I'm not there
Filled with hope and then despair
An adequate state of know-not-what
A blank___ a slash/ a dash- a dot.

I lie as if I am awake
And walk with dreams I can't partake
I tarry forth back to and fro
Not knowing whence I came from, or where to go.

I slowly slip into the mist
Question things I can't resist
Scribbling lines upon the fog
Conversations with no dialogue.

This limbo is my winter estate
A solemn entrance to natures gate
I'm waiting for this mist to rise
To drift along with no surprise.

Deriving life from other things
Soaking up what nature brings
And in that mediary thought
I catch a glimpse of all that's naught.

Tonight I sat under the moon
It's getting fuller all too soon
But it was nice to simply rest
And imbibe all that's truly blessed.

These days have been my saving grace
Journeying through life at a steady pace
Planting ideas like little seeds
Hoping someday to eat the fruits of these deeds.

I'm off now to return
To my dreams where I shall learn
Of places been and lives forgot
Lessons learned and soul songs taught.

Solitary on Sabbath,
Harper

Memory boxes

My memory boxes from 2008 strewn around Delhi.

Delhi.....these days.

Walked around this wonderful monument in Nizamuddin. It is called the Khan-i-Khanan, and was the tomb for a composer named Abdul Rahim during the time of Mughal Emperor Akbar.

And these winter evenings are perfect for friends to gather and play long drawn out 'Bored' games.

Thunderbird bear with a hawkeye disposition

I had a dream once a long time ago, where my friend Rob told me that I was a Thunderbird Bear with a hawkeye disposition. These images seem to have surfaced once again in my sketchbook.

Madhya Pradesh - The heart of incredible India

A travel documentary for National Geographic India about Prashant Miranda, a water colour artist. The film documents his journey as he discovers the history, culture and wildlife in Madhya Pradesh, in central India.

This was a most incredible journey for me, and I've finally figured out how to upload this video on my blog. I was back there in the heartland a few weeks ago for a tribal festival in Kanha.

Interview with Danny Gregory

Here is an interview with Danny Gregory, who asked me the most pertinent, perceptive questions while I was having a beer in Goa this January.

This interview is part of releasing his latest book "An illustrated journey".
You can see more on his blog or buy the book here.

An illustrated journey

Danny Gregory's latest book "An illustrated journey" is out. It is a compendium of artists and their travel sketchbooks. If you remember his last book of artists, designers and their sketchbooks called "An illustrated Life", this is focussed on travel sketchbooks. It's rather exciting and here are some spreads of my work from the book. You can read more of it on Danny's blog, and buy your own copy here.
